My name is Melanie, and I have worked in the mental health field for more than 18 years. I’ve always had a passion for helping others, but it was during college—while volunteering at a local help line—that I realized becoming a therapist was truly my calling. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of supporting individuals and families navigating pediatric grief and bereavement, medical trauma and illness, university-level student concerns, addiction services, and intensive therapy needs.
One of my greatest passions is working with people experiencing anxiety, trauma, and self-esteem challenges. I believe everyone has the power to heal and thrive, and that no one should have to do that work alone.
I am a Certified EMDR counselor (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and also hold a certification in alcohol and drug counseling. I draw from a variety of evidence-based treatments to help clients reach their goals, and I strive to create a down-to-earth, judgment-free space where their best interests always come first.
Outside of my work as a therapist, I deeply value connection and creativity. I’m happiest when I’m with my dogs, exploring the outdoors, or spending time with family. I love camping, playing guitar, and working on crafting projects that help me unwind and express myself. These parts of my life keep me grounded and allow me to bring authenticity and balance into my work with clients.
“Just because no one else can heal or do your inner work for you doesn’t mean you can, should, or need to do it alone.” – Lisa Olivera
